You can’t underestimate the value of a high quality white t-shirt: in its classic sense, as a long sleeve tee or a tank top. It’s a wardrobe staple. It’s something that you can wear with everything. It’s something you can bleach if you have to or turn into a pj top after years of using it (this is what I do anyways). Here’re a few options for you to choose from.
Do you want to know a secret? This long sleeve T-shirt from Gap is my favorite. More often than not things are simpler than they seem.
You guessed it right if you thought that a classic white (or an off-white) shirt is the next great basic piece everyone should have.
If you want your white shirt to last for years make sure to buy high quality fabrics (like organic cotton, linen, viscose, tencel & silk) and take care of them in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Banana Republic makes one of the most top quality yet quite affordable silk shirts out there.

Poplin is great. Poplin is the best, assuming if you are spending 24/7 in a room with AC. If I had to buy one poplin shirt I’d buy this one by Calvin Klein or if I decided to splurge this one by Theory.
I discovered that viscose and tencel shirts & blouses are optimal for any weather, wear and situation. My favorite one is this Maeve shirt by Anthropologie.
Special mention: Adelle Longsleeve Tissue Weight Shirt by Koryphae. It’s all in a name: it truly is that light and soft. I love the elegant poetic style sleeves and how it elevates any look. All Koryphae pieces run on the larger side so I’d suggest sizing down or ordering your usual size if you prefer a roomy fit. For the reference, in this photo I’m wearing size XS.
Everyone needs a beautiful pair of classic trousers that drape well. These gorgeous classic pants by Banana Republic are at the top of my list.
