The optimists promised & the weather delivered: Summer is here and ofc just like everyone else I have nothing to wear to the beach. About time to start searching for new bikinis (I’ve been doing lots of core exercises, not that anyone can tell but the thing is I don’t feel like those single pieces look good on me anymore). My favorite shapes: triangles, bralettes & bandeaus for tops mixed with hipster, Brazilian & cheeky low rise bottoms. All of my faves are linked right here.
Sometimes I get ridiculously brand loyal: I found a couple of swimsuits by Hunza G that look simply phenomenal and I treat them with nothing less of reverence (if you have a chlorine pool I’m not going in no matter what) so I’ve been on the mission to find more swimsuits from this brand. I’ve got very mixed feelings about most of them but my love to Hunza G Gloria in Metallic Cocoa & Strap Bikini in Bubblegum remains strong.
It seems like butter yellow isn’t going anywhere this summer so I had to try on Hunza G Adriana beaded swimsuit in Butter Yellow and pack it up for an immediate return: the color is fabulous and looks pretty good even on a pale face like myself but the original crinkle simply doesn’t give me any cinch in the waist where I feel like I need it so badly: all of those efforts to get abs gave me great core strength and took away any hint of a waist line. No single pieces for me this season, alas. If you have a pear shaped body type this swimsuit is simply yummy and same goes for Hunza G Portia!
The new Hunza G model that’s called Alicia is very cute but on my small b00bs I feel like I had too much fabric in the top so it went back where it came from.
I got the Strap Bikini in Bubblegum in winter for our Maui vacation, it was on sale and the color online was screaming “return” but it turned out to be such a versatile piece: the top can be worn as a crop top to layer under neutral blazers & shirts, as soon as you get a bit of tan on your skin the pink is so, so pretty! I also love this bralette shape because unlike most of my swimsuits I can actually wear this bikini to a water park or slides. Or surfing. It just stays on no matter what.
I got Roxy Haleiwa bikini (with a triangle top & hipster bottom) in San Francisco and I didn’t try it on at the time but I had to wear it out the next day so … guess what? Yup, you’ll see it on Poshmark soon, alternatively DM me on Insta @prelovedlables to shave off that Poshmark comission. It's a good little swimsuit but it just doesn’t fit me as good as I’d like it to.
Zimmermann… Noone else makes them like Zimmermann. Perfect out of the box and it stays perfect after all the laundries & chlorine pools & what not. I lost weight, gained weight and lost some again and Zimmermann Maxine Rope Trim Mini triangle bikini looks gorgeous imho even if I had alla bolognese with extra parmigiano for dinner.
Lou Lou De Saison: I have a plunge neck one-piece Gianna in red and in black and that’s how they’re supposed to make them: it doesn’t smother me but it gives you just a little extra hug around the waist with lots of stretch everywhere. It’s probably sold out everywhere at this point but I’ll make sure to link a few great alternatives.
I’ll be updating the post with a few more wishlist faves &. new arrivals.
