It’s always too ambitious to predict what kind of weather we’ll be having in March here in the PNW. I can always say one thing for sure: it will be gloomy on the Western side of the Cascades. I am very weather dependable and I need as much sunshine as I can get so when there’s none I have to make my own if I can: wearing warm tones, cozy layers and comfort food.
I recently found out that Max Mara 101801 icon coat was designed by Anne-Marie Beretta in 1981and the design has never been changed since then. With statements like that I tend to become suspicious but here I must agree with Jane who works at Max Mara store in Bellevue: they got it right from the first try so why change anything?
I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve noticed that at the end of Winter - beginning of Spring I start craving green colors: in clothing in particular so instead of buying this coat in classic camel or beige the way I intended to originally I got it in Moss Green.

Another thing I should mention about the 101801 coat is its versatility. I can easily wear it with a dress or a skirt or my sweats and lug sole boots. I walk my dogs in it and I can go meet my clients or see the ballet. It always looks appropriate, stylish, chic and understated at the same time. The only thing that’s worrying me is that I already know I want it in at least 2 other colors: classic camel (or caramel) and beige.

This teddy gilet is my favorite inbetweener. With Max Mara teddy coat being an overkill most of the time and the weather not being warm enough for the trench coat and denim jackets this vest puts a smile on my face every time I pull it out of the closet.

Not that I don’t have beige or camel coats. This double sided robe style coat was an amazing find and wonderful investment. Unlike Max Mara Cos loves to make very long sleeves but it delivers stunning quality at just a fraction of a price. This coat sold out almost too quickly but there’re a few similar styles made by Cos’s sister brand &Other Stories as well as by Mango & Loulou Studio.

Sunny or gloomy day: trench coat is always a good idea. My trench coat is from last year’s collection by Reiss. I love that it’s slightly oversized and it has these beautiful lapels and dropped shoulder. Other than that it has this classic clean design which means it will last for years.

I’ve been thinking about Max Mara teddy Moto jacket a little bit too much but I wasn’t quite sure whether to get it or not so I decided to start with a dupe first. At the price a little over $100 it’s a great piece which looks very cute and stands out. You could never truly compare this moto jacket to the original made by Max Mara starting with the fact that this one is made of polyester and Max Mara is faux fur but it’s a lovely style nonetheless.
You can purchase the original right here and this is the link to the dupe on Amazon.
Another inbetweener that’s been on my mind for a while is this boho chic patchwork jacket by Sezane. This model comes in so many colors and fabrics but this one is definitely my favorite. It’s simply so much fun and it’s just the right amount of eclectic that I know I can pull off with a simple pair of jeans and a mariniere.

The best for the last: I love mixing classic pieces with loungewear and robe coats like this one work just as well as cocoon coats. I got this 100% cashmere coat at Bloomingdales on sale last year and I believe this is one of the most timeless pieces that I own. Everything from the cut to color is so classic, luxurious and understated I believe it will last forever.
